GOCTALAB DECK
Facing the imposing Gocta waterfall in northern Peru, Goctalab, a space dedicated to artistic residencies and workshops, invited us to design and build a cover for its multifunctional deck, intended for activities such as workshops, yoga, presentations and meeting spaces. This place, committed to permaculture and sustainability, sought to incorporate bamboo as a prominent material in its infrastructure due to its ecological, aesthetic and structural properties.
We designed a hyperbolic paraboloid to cover an area of 9x9 meters, taking advantage of the exceptional qualities of bamboo both in terms of strength and flexibility. This geometry not only enhances the structural capabilities of the material, but also provides an elegant design that harmoniously dialogues with the natural environment. The structure is covered by climbing vegetation, which reinforces the space's commitment to the integration of architecture into the landscape, creating a unique synergy between the built and nature.
The project not only represents an exercise in innovative design, but also a commitment to sustainable materials and techniques that promote a deeper connection with the environment. This space, now converted into a meeting and creation place, reflects Goctalab's philosophy and its vision of a more conscious and environmentally friendly future.
