CASA RAYAMPATA
Located in Calca, in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, this house was built entirely with local materials and techniques. Adobe load-bearing walls were used along with local wood for collars and roof structures. The wall finishes were made with different shades of clay, expressing the diversity of soil found in the region. The ceilings and floors were made with wooden tongue and groove, and handmade tiles were placed on the roof. The use of natural materials emphasizes the warm and cozy feeling of the interior, which is also enhanced by thermal insulation with thick earth walls that keep the house warm.
